ABOUT ME:
I'm in love with colors and shapes! And with pictures that evoke a mood
and tell a story. I'm fortunate to
live and work in a small
mountain town in California, and to be able to draw and paint for my
livelihood.
I've been illustrating children's books for more than twelve years. I
work in acrylic, ink, and sometimes Photoshop.
Some
recent titles include:
The Dollmaker's Gift
by
award-winning writer Sashi Fridman, a tale of turn-of-the century
Jewish immigration, to be released soon by Merkos Publishing.
Much, Much Better, by Rabbi Chaim Kosofsky, an Iraqi
Jewish folktale, which received an Eric Hoffer Children's Book Award
and a Sydney Taylor Notable Book Award. Hachai Publishing.
The King in the Field, by Devorah Leah Rosenfeld, adapted
from a medieval Hasidic parable. Hachai Publishing.
Sybil Ludington, Freedom's Brave Rider,
an amazing
story of a young girl who alerted militia in the Revolutionary War.
What she did was much more difficult and dangerous than Paul Revere's
famous ride. Zaner-Bloser.
I also paint textural
abstracts and landscapes.
I teach a summer class for preteens at the Idyllwild Arts Academy which
includes making comic books and puppets, and building a miniature
village.
I studied painting at the San Francisco Art Institute, and illustration
at UCLA and the Art Academy of los Angeles.
